Convention on the Rights of the Child: the right to health participate (8/8)

All the people of the world have rights. Children need special protection and therefore, special rights as well. The Convention on the Rights of the Child includes all the rights but also all the obligations relating to children.

Article 12: Children can say what they think

A child has the right to say what s-he thinks, what s-he feels and what s-he wants on all matters that concern her/him. States Parties shall take into account the views of children, and think about them while taking their decisions. The more children are thoughtful, the more adults consider their opinion. This is when adults decide that children are mature enough to participate in decisions. Younger children have a different maturity than older children and adolescents. They express their opinions on matters that are within their reach.

Article 13: Every child has the right to be informed

Before expressing your opinion, you need to be informed. Otherwise, you could say inaccurate things that will not be taken seriously. Every child should have access to information thanks to books, newspapers, Internet, radio, television, etc.

Article 15: When children meet

Every child has the right to meet with other children, to create groups, to discuss, have fun, share her or his opinion, do something constructive, etc.
